Desi van Rhee lives and breathes art and culture. Yet she was actually studying Psychology when she was inspired by a roommate to study Art History. She switched courses and that was the best decision of her life! Even while she was studying, her goal was to work in an auction house. So once she had completed her degree, she did an internship at Sotheby's auction house. She enjoyed her time there so much that she ended up staying – for over ten years! That's how Desi came to deal with every aspect of auctioneering, all equally fascinating. Her work has since developed into a lifelong passion, which found a home at Catawiki. Desi thoroughly enjoys working at Catawiki. She loves sifting through every item that comes up for auction, so much so that she works day and night trying to get to the bottom of everything.
