Annick van Itallie grew up in The Hague (The Netherlands) in the antiquarian neighbourhood, where she was surrounded on a daily base by the wonderful world of shop windows with extraordinary objects. She is particularly fascinated by the way in which objects are presented and how they can enhance each other. Studying History of Art, with a specialisation in museology, was therefore a perfect fit for her. After working in a museum in the US, she worked briefly as a film props master in the Netherlands. For 12 years, she worked as an appraiser/expert and head of the Applied Art department of a well-known traditional auction house (Glerum Auctioneers). But then, Annick van Itallie opened her own store on the Spiegelgracht in Amsterdam. She named it her 'Cabinet of Curiosities'. The store is now closed, but she still travels to international art fairs with her cabinet of curiosities. And with great success. Annick van Itallie can combine her knowledge and creativity perfectly at Catawiki. With her experience as an appraiser and seller, she can predict the value of lots and knows what objects collectors love. She therefore makes sure that her auctions include a wide range of objects, as long as they are high in quality, authentic and original. Being creative, she manages to put together intriguing auctions, with different items that enhance each other. Annick van Itallie feels like a true musical conductor, sending her bidders on an exciting voyage of discovery.
