As a child Valérie would reproduce archeological discoveries of fossils on the beach and dream about Egyptian dynasties and how it was to ride Bucephalus, the famous horse of Alexander the Great. Later, after she began visiting museums with her mother and grandfather, art began to play a larger part in her interest, and she marveled at the beauty and stories she uncovered on each visit. Valérie went on to earn her Masters in Dutch History, all the while working as an auction assistant, which helped her land a prestigious internship at Christie’s in Old Masters. Next up she curated two exhibitions at Museum Singer Laren, establishing herself as a true expert and talented art researcher of the 19th century. With her specialization in 19th century art, a strong interest in fin de siècle art and architecture, and fluency in English, French, Dutch, and Spanish, Valérie is a welcome member of the Catawiki team since 2020.
