Surprises delight me. A seller recently listed a ‘simple’ mirror, which turned out to be a rare piece by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte.

Growing up in a house full of antiques and design items, Jochen Kloeters developed a keen eye for beautiful things from an early age. In his twenties, while he was a DJ in the mod scene, he got increasingly interested in 1960s culture — researching music, fashion and design from the distinctive period. As time passed, his interest gradually honed in on design specifically. Jochen’s professional career began by working as an interior designer. For 10 years, he worked with Knock Art agency to create exhibition stands, store interiors and showrooms for the fashion and lifestyle industry, combining contemporary and vintage design. The following decade, he owned a gallery for vintage design called 19 West Furniture. With 20+ years of experience now under his belt, he joined Catawiki to help navigate buyers and sellers through the world of design by understanding their individual needs. With a personal interest in Italian Pop Art furniture from the 60s and 70s, Jochen’s heart skips a beat each time new pieces come in.
