“It is a pleasure to work with beautiful and well-made objects almost every day. The best and most sophisticated objects are the ones that tell an enticing story.”

Jens has loved art for as long as he can remember but it wasn’t until he began working with antiques, while finishing his studies in art history, that he became fascinated with expertly crafted furniture. And, just a few years later a research project introduced Jens to the fascinating world of posters. While posters and antiques may not seem immediately connected, for Jens they both carry with them incredible and wonderous stories of times gone by, glamorous lives and momentous events. One of his favourite discoveries involved using the latest technologies to uncover the name of a long-ago master cabinet maker hidden on a beautiful, over 240-year old French Baroque dressoir. Since joining Catawiki in 2020, Jens has been amazed at the variety and quality of the objects he gets to review. In a single, memorable day he assessed a Renaissance chest, a Baroque console, a Louis XVI dresser, a Biedermeier dining table, an Art Nouveau vase, an Art Deco sideboard, and a Mid-Century Modern designer armchair. He can’t wait to see what each new day brings.
