How does selling on Catawiki work?

Register as a seller

To sell at auction, create a free Catawiki account.

Submit objects

Anyone can submit and sell at Catawiki. Our submission process guides you step by step, from uploading good images of your object to providing the right info that helps buyers find the objects they care about and feel confident buying them for the right price. If you’re selling an object with a high estimated value, then you can also add a reserve price – this is set in consultation with the expert. You can also add the buy now option which allows your object to be bought for a fixed price before the auction ends.

To sell your object, you’ll be asked to confirm your identity with our payment partner (Stripe or Payoneer). This allows us to confirm your identity and helps us to guarantee the safety of the bidding process for both buyers and sellers. It’s a one-time process.

In-house experts evaluate submissions and curate our auctions

An expert will review your submission and check that your object has all the details a buyer needs to bid so you can sell it for a price you’re thrilled with. After that, they’ll make sure your special object is easy to find by placing it in the perfect auction.

During auction

Bidding starts at €1, at 50% of the reserve price, or at the reserve price, depending on the setting you choose.

Shipping and payments

We'll notify you once the buyer has transferred their payment. Then, all that’s left to do is ship your objects or prepare them for pickup, making sure to do so within 3 working days. Your payment will then be scheduled based on the payment frequency you select in your settings.

Shipping costs

Shipping costs are paid by the buyer. You’ll have the choice to ship your special object with manual shipping or smart shipping.

Manual shipping

As a seller, you can indicate the shipping costs for various destinations during submission. Make sure you calculate the shipping costs accurately to avoid any possible issues.

Smart shipping

Shipping labels are automatically generated and tracked, and pricing is more transparent allowing buyers to pay up to 35% less on shipping fees.

What does the seller success fee go towards?

After you make a sale, we charge a seller success fee. The seller success fee is 12.5% of the price your object sells for and an additional fixed amount, excluding VAT. VAT is calculated according to the tax rate applicable in your country.

The fee goes toward marketing objects to buyers around the world and increasing demand so sellers can get a good price.
