Bidding
How is it possible that someone won an auction with a bid placed after the indicated auction end time?

Our auctions (generally) end at a whole hour as indicated on the auction page. The first object in an auction will end 1 minute after the indicated time. However, the auction for an individual object can continue to run after this time. This is because different objects within a single auction have a different closing time.

The interval between the closing times differs depending on how many objects there are in an auction. The more objects there are in an auction, the smaller the interval will be. For example, if there are 80 objects in the auction the objects will close within 61 seconds of each other and if there are 100 objects in the auction, the object will close within 58 seconds of each other.

This interval system allows our bidders to track and bid on multiple objects in the same auction in real time.

There may also be a later end time because if your bid is placed in the last minute of an auction, extra time will be added. This gives all bidders an equal opportunity to win a lot and avoids everyone placing their bids in the last five seconds. Read more about the extension of auction closing times here.
