Yes, in exceptional cases it may happen that Catawiki will remove an object from auction, especially if this is needed to comply with applicable legislation. As part of our review process, we aim to ensure all objects submitted for auction meet our acceptance and submission guidelines before they are added to an auction, but it can happen we miss something.
Users and visitors of our online marketplace can also notify us if they think an object does not meet the guidelines and should not be offered on Catawiki. If doubts arise about any object in auction, Catawiki has the right to remove this object from auction, pending additional verifications. As a seller, you’ll be notified when we make such a decision and are invited to provide additional information related to your object. You are also allowed to appeal our decision.
Can I resubmit my object(s)?
If the review process shows your object meets our acceptance and submission guidelines, it can be resubmitted for auction. We’ll inform you accordingly once the review process is complete. If our review process shows the object shouldn’t have been accepted in the first place, it may not be resubmitted. To appeal a decision, please contact us via our regular support channels.
How can I make sure my object(s) will not get taken down in the future?
We strive to provide a safe and reliable marketplace for our users, with legal and policy-compliant objects. To help sellers remain compliant, please thoroughly review our acceptance and submission guidelines before your next submission.
Why was my object only taken down now, and not during the submission process?
Objects submitted to Catawiki are always subject to curation by one of our experts. However, it is not always evident that an object should be considered as illegal or otherwise not in line with our acceptance and submission guidelines. Sometimes we receive an intellectual property or copyright claim from a third party once an auction is live, or a communication from law enforcement that an object may be stolen or otherwise part of an ongoing investigation. In those situations, we may be obliged to act, even if an auction is already live. In principle, we’ll inform you before the object is removed from auction. You will also always have the opportunity to provide your perspective. If you have additional questions on removing a specific object, please submit an appeal request so our team can provide details or conduct an additional review if needed.
