Welcome to Catawiki!
Our community thrives on the values of safety, authenticity, and respect. These principles guide everything we do to create a safe, enjoyable marketplace for all. By following these guidelines, you help us build a positive environment for everyone.
Stay Safe and Follow the Law
Your safety is our top priority. Here's how you can protect yourself and comply with our standards:
Keep your data secure: Protect your account by keeping your login details private, updating your password regularly, and using unique passwords for different platforms.
Avoid illegal activities: Ensure that the objects you submit and the transactions you conduct comply with local laws, as well as our Terms of Use and Policies.
Respect others’ privacy: Use other users’ personal information only to complete transactions and never for personal purposes (e.g., adding them to newsletters). Refer to our Data Protection and Privacy Notice for more information.
Beware of phishing: Stay alert for suspicious messages or requests asking for personal information.
Be Genuine
Honesty and transparency are essential to maintaining trust in our community.
Keep your details accurate: Ensure your profile and contact information are up to date.
Bid and buy responsibly: Each bid or purchase is binding, so only commit if you’re ready to follow through. Never bid on your own objects or encourage others to artificially raise prices.
Follow our submission guidelines: Not all objects meet Catawiki's standards. Check our Submission Guidelines and Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy before submitting. Even if an object meets the standards, our experts may still decline it based on availability or relevance.
Describe items truthfully: Provide accurate descriptions and deliver on promises. Exclusively list objects on Catawiki—not on other platforms or offline.
Ship responsibly: Ship sold items promptly, provide accurate tracking, and charge fair shipping fees.
Treat Others with Respect
Kindness goes a long way in building a thriving community.
Communicate politely: Whether speaking with other users or our support team, always remain courteous. Harassment, hate speech, and other harmful behaviour are not tolerated in line with our User Communication and Anti-Harassment Policy.
Embrace constructive feedback: Leave honest reviews to help our Sellers improve, and embrace feedback from Buyers to enhance your own future transactions.
Consequences for Violations
Violations of these guidelines may result in penalties, including but not limited to:
Temporary or permanent account restrictions (e.g., limited bidding or selling access)
Removal of active bids or submitted objects
Financial penalties, such as forfeiture of fees
Our Trust & Safety team carefully reviews each case, considering factors like:
The impact on other users and Catawiki
Whether the violation breaches laws or our Terms of Use
The user’s history and the severity of the violation
For severe violations, such as selling stolen goods or fraudulent activity, we may immediately block accounts. For less severe issues, we aim to provide opportunities for improvement through warnings or temporary suspensions before escalating to permanent action.
Together, We Build a Safe Community
We’re committed to maintaining a fair and thriving marketplace. By adhering to these guidelines, you contribute to making Catawiki a safe, welcoming place for all.
Let’s work together to keep our community strong and supportive.
