How to create or update your account if you live in the Canary Islands
If you live in the Canary Islands, make sure to select the Canary Islands as your country when you create a Catawiki account.
If you already have an account, you can update your address to your Canary Islands address. Make sure to also update the country to Canary Islands and save the changes.
Changing your country
If you use your account to sell, or have ever started to register as a seller on Catawiki, you won’t be able to change your country.
Instead, you’ll need to delete your existing account and create a new account with the Canary Islands as your country.
If you buy and sell on Catawiki
If you sell and ship objects from the Canary Islands but your country is set to Spain, you’ll need to delete your existing account and create a new account with the Canary Islands as your country.
This is to make sure your object goes through the appropriate customs department and is shipped correctly.
If you ship your objects from the Spanish mainland, there is no need to change your details.
Providing your details to the seller
For customs processing in the Canary Islands, you might need to send your phone and ID numbers to the seller after you have paid for your object.
To send these details, find your purchase and then send a message to the seller containing your relevant information.
The seller may also ask you to pay extra shipping costs, this is due to the increased costs of shipping to an island.
Return costs
If the address in your account isn’t correct and your objects are returned to the seller, you’ll need to pay for any applicable return fees and the costs of a new shipment to receive the object. You will have to pay these costs directly to the seller.
Tax rules in the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands have a different tax system compared to the rest of Europe, so providing your address correctly directly impacts customs charges and procedures during the import process of your object.
