Capirossi's collection goes up for auction: 2-stroke engines and sports memorabilia from his last MotoGP season

Amsterdam, 30 August Motorbike champion Loris Capirossi is auctioning off part of his sports collection, in an exclusive collection on Catawiki that will be live until Sunday 8 September, ahead of the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Among the most coveted items are Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki motorbikes customised with Honda, KTM, and Kawasaki 2-stroke engines inserted into modern chassis so as to obtain modern prototypes, but with maximum cycling performance. The collection also includes a Vespa to which the original 2-stroke engine was applied, increasing the displacement from 50 to 144.

Among the objects up for auction, Capirossi has also included some sports memorabilia belonging to his last MotoGP season (2011, Ducati Pramac team) such as: his last helmet and a top-of-the-range pair of gloves, a racing suit and a pair of boots. Capirossi is donating all proceeds from the memorabilia sale to the Institut National du Cancer

The auction will also feature cars, another great passion of the motorbike champion, and one of them is the famous 1950 Mercury that appeared in the film ‘Cobra’.
