Vincent Van Gogh might be the most famous and influential figure in the history of western art. At his birthplace in Zundert, the Van Gogh House offers contemporary artists the chance to work and exhibit their work in the guest studio. These artists now give something in return, by putting their work up for auction at Catawiki to support the Van Gogh House.

The Van Gogh House is a museum located at Zundert, the birthplace of Vincent Van Gogh. Besides presenting the (in)famous painter’s heritage, it also displays the work of contemporary artists inspired by Van Gogh. Famous artists and young talents are invited to come over and work at Van Gogh’s birthplace for a while. They literally get the opportunity to follow the footsteps of Van Gogh, which leads to some pretty extraordinary results!

The Van Gogh House does as of this moment not yet get any form of structural subsidy from the government for the ‘artist-in-residence’ programme. So in order to raise money for this project, the artists have donated a total of 86 works up for auction at Catawiki! By making a purchase at this auction, you will support the Van Gogh artist-in-residence programme. Catawiki sponsors this auction by not charging commission to the Van Gogh House, so all of the profits will go to the artist-in-residence programme of the Van Gogh House.
