Catawiki are very pleased to announce they will be the official auction partner of Jeans for Refugees, a Johny Dar artistic fundraising initiative. The Jeans for Refugees auction will see 100 high profile celebrities donating a pair of jeans to artist Johny Dar who will turn each one into a unique piece of art. These one of a kind pieces will then be open to bids from the entire public, for the next 100 days, exclusively on Catawiki’s Jeans for Refugees auction. All proceeds will go to the International Rescue Committee, a charity which helps millions of refugees worldwide every year.
Johny Dar himself is an artist pioneering an original form of artistic expression through painting illustration, fashion, design, body art, multimedia, and music. He is passionate about breaking boundaries, realising dreams and making the impossible possible while collaborating for a cause. The celebrities Dar is collaborating with on Jeans for Refugees range from across the world of fashion, art and film and includes names such as Ryan Gosling, Victoria Beckham, Daniel Radcliffe and many more.
As Dar continues his work each pair he finishes will be added to Catawiki and will be open to bidding with the first 15 pairs opening today - which includes pairs donated by Kate Moss and Emma Watson. During the final week of the Jeans for Refugees auction all one hundred pairs of jeans will be on display at The Saatchi Gallery, London, before bidding closes, proceeds are donated to the International Rescue Committee and the lucky winners are sent their jeans!
Donated by celebrities: Ryan Gosling, Emma Watson, Zoe Kravitz and Joaquin Phoenix are just a few of the celebrities involved in this auction

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) was founded at the request of Albert Einstein and today works in over 40 countries worldwide. The IRC battles the biggest humanitarian crises and is focused on helping today’s record number of refugees who are forced to flee their homes and uproot their lives. More than 25 million people benefited from the work of the IRC in 2015 - more than ever before - and they aim to help even more of those in need in 2016.
Ben Fried, Catawiki UK’s General Manager says about the project: “We’re thrilled to be working with Johny on such a creative, unique and worthy initiative in aid of the IRC. We pride ourselves on offering bidders, in the UK or abroad, items that are truly extraordinary - the Jeans for Refugees collection is the embodiment of this.”
