Christopher Lee was an internationally famous actor, best know for his villainous roles such as Dracula and Bond villain Scaramanga to name a few. During his 70 plus year career in the entertainment industry he played many other roles and brought countless characters to life. Another star was lost in 2015 when, at the age of 93, Lee left this world. Leaving a rich life behind, he also left his possessions; one of which being this beautiful 18kt gold plated Meisterstück Mont Blanc pen. Christopher was a big pen collector, so read on how you can be the next owner of one of his special pens.
Christopher Lee
For those who don't know Sir Christopher Lee, he began acting when he was just 17 years old. Lee was actually his cousin Ian Flemming's first choices to play James Bond in the films, but as we all know now, that didn't happen. He did make an appearance as the villain in The Man With the Golden Gun however, a role much better suited to Lee's talents. The story of how he was cast in the Lord of the Rings films is quite amazing as well. He met the the author, Tolkien, in a pub randomly. Tolkien gave Lee his blessing to play Gandalf in the upcoming films, but unfortunately, the director thought he was better suited to play the role of Suraman. His natural ability to play the villain cost Lee yet another heroic role, but thankfully his fans could appreciate another of his villainous performances.
Mont Blanc Pens
Mont Blanc pens are known for their elegant and functional design. Over the years Mont Blanc pens have become an icon in the writing culture. Sir Christopher Lee was a big collector of beautiful pens, Mont Blanc pens in particular; he was even invited to attend Mont Blanc galas. The pen in our auction was part of his privet collection, which was offered up for auction by his family after his death.
Christopher Lee's Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc sees their pens as 'writing instruments'. Perhaps this is the reason that Lee was so fond of there pens. His roles always came with a specific instrument, usually a weapon: the light sabre in Star Wars, the Eye of Sauron in Lord of the Rings, the golden gun in James Bond and the teeth of Dracula. With that in mind we could consider this pen to the be Lee's everyday weapon...after all the pen is mightier than the sword.
