Have You Ever Seen the Colours of Music?

When art meets music, real masterpieces are created, as in the series of works by British artist Tim Wakefield. Check out this artist’s works and read his story below.

‘Soundwave’ is a series of contemporary artworks by Tim Wakefield that combines music and technology, capturing the sound waves of some of the most iconic songs in the world. The sound-colour association has often been a topic in art. This can be seen both from artists who have synaesthesia, a neurological phenomenon occurring when stimulations from a sense induce experiences in a second sense, and by artists who thoroughly investigate the ‘mixture of senses’, from Mozart to Kandinsky, from Rimbaud to Liszt.

Every piece has been signed by music legends, the authors of the famous hits
The base of these abstract pieces is the digital model of a song formed by instruments and voices that make up the recording. Wakefield amplified and personalised sound patterns, transforming them into pieces of contemporary art that reflect the nature of the music. He collaborated with various artists in this challenging process, often making more than a dozen variations and ‘changes’ before the final product was presented to the musicians for their signatures. Then, the digital original versions are printed on canvas or paper.

The auction includes limited editions signed by the artist and bands like ABBA,  Pink Floyd, and Chemical Brothers.
