Even though it’s actually summer, Winter’s nearly here, with Game of Thrones season 7 set to air on July 16! It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with our favourite throne-eager swordsmen and women of Westeros, so let’s take a look who from the four biggest remaining houses is still alive at this point, where they are and where they’re going. If you aren’t up to date until season 6 already, prepare for spoilers.
House of Stark
The Starks never had it easy. Starting out as a large and happy family, now only a few characters are still standing. First of all, there’s Sansa who finally escaped from the grip of her terrible marriage with Ramsay Bolton. With her is Jon, who’s back from the dead, thanks to the powers of Melisandre. Together they’ve finally reclaimed Winterfell from the Boltons, with a little bit of help from the wildlings, Lyanna Mormont (the most bad-ass 10-year-old) and an unexpected (well, at least for Jon) hand from the Knights of the Vale.

Then there’s Bran, the youngest one from the family left alive, since Rickon was murdered by Ramsay Bolton last season. After having eye-contact with the Night King when he’s warging away; all hell breaks loose, resulting in the death of Hodor, Leaf and The Three-Eyed Raven. Only him and Meera are left, when they run into his dead, but not really dead, Uncle Benjen. He brings them to the wall, which he can’t cross himself. Bran is the Three-Eyed Raven now.

House of Lannister
Jaime got caught up in the whole feud about the Riverlands between the Freys and the Blackfish. The Blackfish died during that feud, but not before helping Brienne of Tarth and Podrick escape. When Jamie returns to King’s Landing, he’s in for a surprise. Well, we can certainly say Cersei went out with a bang last season, killing most of the people that were in her way, and indirectly also her, and Jamie's, last remaining child Tommen. This puts her on the Iron Throne once more. Her lover/brother Jamie is basically the only one left for Cersei, together with The Zombie Mountain.
Tyrion has been bullied his whole life, but now he finally found his purpose: drinking and knowing things. Daenerys has made him hand of the Queen, and together they’re sailing the Narrow Sea to conquer Westeros.

House Greyjoy
After escaping the grip from Ramsay Bolton, Theon decides to return to his original home Pyke, where he doesn’t get the warm welcome he expects. Balon, Theon’s father, gets murdered by his brother Euron shortly after Theon’s arrival. This means there’s an open position on the Salt Throne. Yara wants to rule, and her brother has her back, but the men don’t believe a woman should rule. Euron convinces the men that he will marry Daenerys Targaryen and conquer Westeros. Yara and Theon quickly escape with the Iron Fleet and offer Daenerys a hundred ships if she helps to defeat Euron and if she recognizes the independence of the Iron Islands with Yara as the Queen of the Iron Islands. A new alliance is formed.
