Every Friday at Catawiki, another 300+ auctions go live and are ready for you to fall in love with. We’ve delved around and amongst the nearly 40,000 special items that make up our auctions this week, our experts have picked out 3 of the best, just for you. This week it includes a signed Beatles album, the first major publication of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, and a vintage Art Deco diamond bracelet.

‘Help’ Album Signed by Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison

In 1965, four lads from Liverpool released their 5th studio album… ‘Help!’. The Beatles had already had a couple of years of major international success before they released their second film and subsequently the album of the soundtrack. Amongst the songs were the title track, ‘Help!’, ‘Ticket to Ride’, and the most covered track ever to have been written, ‘Yesterday’. This week in our Beatles auction we have a beautiful copy, signed by Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison, each in different inks...where was Ringo that day? With an estimate price of €2,100 - €2,750, it’s clear that Beatlemania still lives!

Darwin and Wallace “Three papers on the tendency of species to form varieties” First Edition

Charles Darwin was not the fastest of workers. After conceiving his theory of evolution in 1839, he spent 20 years collating evidence, mainly due to the fact that he knew it was a concept that would shake the world of science. But when he received a letter from Alfred Wallace in 1858 outlining natural selection, he knew he had to release his ideas. Three letters, from Darwin, Wallace and Hooker, were read out at the Linnean Society in London and published in their journal, but surprisingly hardly caused a stir. However, the more popular journal ‘The Zoologist’ sensed its importance and published it - the first major appearance of the theory of evolution. This week in our Evolution auction, we have a copy of this highly controversial and important paper from 1858, the year before ‘On the Origin of Species’ was published. This must-have collectors item is valued at €9,000 - €12,000.

Rare Art Deco Diamond Bracelet

1920s France: the birthplace of the glamorous world of Art Deco design. When we think of these times, images of elegant, wild and sophisticated parties may come to mind. And what better to wear to one of those than a 14kt white gold bracelet with 9.5ct of brilliant cut diamonds? This stunning vintage bracelet is in our Exclusive Antique Jewellery auction, and is ready to add an extra bit of glamour to your wardrobe, with an estimated price of €13,000 - €17,000.
