Celebrity Collections: Céline Dion's Addiction to Shoes

Her heart will go on, and apparently so will her shoe collection! Canadian singer Céline Dion claims to have about three thousand pairs of shoes, but admits that she has stopped counting because she is not good at maths. Read on to learn more about this chart-topping singer's addiction to shoes.

Career
Céline Dion grew up in a poor, but happy family of fourteen children. At the age of twelve, she was discovered as an artist by music producer René Angélil, who would later become her husband. In the 1990s, she was almost non-stop in the charts. Her music has received numerous awards, including five Grammys and two Oscars (for the title songs of 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'My Heart will go on'). When her husband became seriously ill in 1999, the singer took a few steps back. Today she's back on top with her compilation 'Un peu de nous' topping the charts in France and her reappearance in Disney's world with 'How Does a Moment Last Forever' for the 2017 version of the film 'Beauty and the Beast'.

Addiction
Due to her success, she will never have trouble buying the most beautiful and expensive shoes like Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Alaïa, and Jimmy Choo. Many dream about them, but Céline Dion has them all in her closet. The singer likes beautiful things, especially wearing beautiful things, but according to her stylist, she is not a snob at all. If she likes something, she will buy it. Whether it costs €2,000 or €20.

An addiction which got out of hand is perhaps the best way to describe her collection of shoes. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Céline said that some people do drugs, but she buys shoes. On a US talk show she told Katie Couric that it doesn't even matter which size the shoes are: "I go to the store and I say 'I really like these', and then they ask me 'what size?'. And I say, 'Oh no, you do not understand. I want them, so in what sizes do you have them?" Whether she has to walk in shoes that are too big or too small, it doesn't matter to her... a shoe is a shoe, after all!

Closet
Céline's shoe closet is not just a closet. In 2013, her huge villa (with extensive water park) was available for sale in Florida, and only then it became clear that her shoes had their own room. She even had a system where she could press a button to have the shoes roll by. Impressive! The shoes were not sold with the house, so she had to move them too. Imagine how many moving vehicles it would take to move 3,000 pairs of shoes! And the singer is not the only one in her family with a passion for shoes. Her son Nelson also likes walking around in her heels, and according to the singer he does that better than she does!
