Top 5 Most Expensive Skis in the World

When hitting the slopes, your pair of skis can be the difference between moving like a beginner and flying over the powdered hills like a pro. A brand new pair of skis is not a cheap investment. But some skis are exceptionally expensive, whether they’re produced in collaboration with luxury car brands or cryogenically frozen. Here are the top 5 most expensive skis in the world.

5. FC08 by Dynastar and Ferrari - €2,500
Dynastar collaborated with Ferrari to create the FC08 skis. Made with a lightweight carbon fibre frame, they are reminiscent of the Ferrari F1 car. They feature the newly developed Autodrive Fluid system to improve stability in lines. This makes them one of the best performing on-piste skis for some Ferrari-style speeds on the slopes.

4. Zai / Bentley Skis - €8,500
Next up is another collaboration between a luxury car brand and a ski company. The Swiss company Zai was founded in 2003 with the idea to create skis unlike any others. The company paired with Bentley to create the limited edition Zai for Bentley Supersport set. These sleek looking skies give a unique and high performance, are made using natural rubber along with stainless steel, and are available in snow white and Bentley green. It’s no surprise that the skies cost several thousand euros, since they are hand made and it takes over 30 hours to create just one of the beautiful pairs.

3. Carradan Diamondback and Envy Skis - €10,000
The luxury brand Carradan, from Big Sky, Montana, not only comes in third place in this list with their expensive skis, but they also won the bronze medal. Their Diamondback and Envy models come with a price tag of €10,000. They are made with the same technology as their pricier brother and sister; they boast the FLEX:2 system that absorbs the effects of impact and feature the Carradan Coriolis Core to reduce warping.

2. Carradan Mamba and Lust Editions - €16,000
Carrandan Skis offers their most expensive editions, Mamba and Lust, at €16,000. The skis have been created to achieve the highest level of flexibility and performance. They are produced with the same FLEX:2 system and Carradan Coriolis Core technology as mentioned in the previous skis on our list. To strengthen them, the edges are cryogenically frozen down to -270 C!

1. Pinel & Pinel / Lacroix Ski Set - €57,000
At the number one spot: Ski brand Lacroix collaborated with Pinel & Pinel, a luxury trunk and cabinet maker in Paris, to create these carbon fibre skis. It is therefore not surprising that the skis come with an elegantly designed trunk in full grain leather, which is easy to use with wheels underneath. Only ten sets were manufactured and sold for €57,000 each. A pair of leather ski gloves, a pair of carbon fibre ski poles and goggles were included.

This list may be on the pricier end of the scale, but with the right pair of skis, you can still possibly win the gold medal. When you’re not on the slopes, pay a visit to our weekly Sports Memorabilia auction where you will find a fantastic selection of special objects to warm up your winter.
