Fashion lovers who have always wished own have a haute couture dress by Addy van den Krommenacker have the chance to do just that. The world-famous Dutch couturier is offering 40 of his catwalk dresses at Catawiki this week. We spoke with him and asked about the dresses in the auction and why he chose to auction off his dresses on Catawiki.
On the Red Carpet
The exquisite creations of Addy van den Krommenacker adorn many red carpets all over the world. Many international celebrities opt for one of his dresses for major shows and performances. Chantal Janzen, Lieke van Lexmond and Nicolette van Dam are frequently spotted in his creations. Additionally his dresses have been seen on the red carpet of the Oscars in Los Angeles and Addy dresses many members of the royal family.

An Auction with International Allure
The auction includes 40 stunning dresses that were all worn on the catwalk during one of his many fashion shows over the past 10 years. Addy says he is offering these dresses up for auction simply because he no more room for them. Each year a new catwalk collection is the time to make a new owner happy with these dresses.
Each dress in the auction has its own story, so it is quite difficult to give them up.
Each dress was worn during one of his catwalk shows and some of them even on the red carpet. So was the dress below, for example, was worn by the famous British model Lady Victoria Hervey at the Cannes Film Festival.

Personal Favourite
We asked Addy for his personal favorite from the auction. He said that the first dress in the auction has a special meaning for him. This dress was in fact part of its special 10th anniversary collection, which is really special. Furthermore, Addy told us that it is very special for him to see all the catwalk dresses in one auction together. ‘That does something for me,’ he said.

At the end of October, Addy first came into contact with Catawiki. It was the wish of his good friend Sandra Reemer, who passed away suddenly in June, to make some of her belongings and clothing available to the public and to auction them for charity. He called the auction hosted by Catawiki in October a ‘Tribute to Sandra’.
Addy also enlisted the help of Catawiki in order to make his dress available to a wide international audience.
Addy’s Tip
Since the dresses in the auction are made for the catwalk they are size 36. But that doesn’t need to deter buyers according to Addy. The dresses can also be seen as works of art or can be altered for those that want to wear them. Furthermore Addy gives the tip that some of the dresses in the auction are suitable as a bridal gown.
A lot of dresses from the auction are also suitable as a wedding dress.
