Here at Catawiki, we’re always proud to celebrate the memory of musicians and actors who have passed and to help fans around the world feel closer to the ones we’ve lost. That’s why we’re very happy to be hosting a special charity auction celebrating the Italian singer-songwriter Pino Daniele (19 March 1955 – 4 January 2015) which will also support the patients of the Neapolitan Santobono paediatric hospital. The auction will begin Friday 22nd December and it will feature Pino Daniele’s guitar with his own signature.
Remembering a Great Performer
Pino Daniele’s beautiful tenor voice gave the world hits such as ‘Quando’ and ‘Anema e Core’. His music was a blend of experimental blues and jazz, mixed with rock and traditional sounds from his hometown of Naples - a place extremely dear to his heart. Pino so loved his Neapolitan city that he often sang in its local dialect and referred frequently to Naples in the lyrics of his songs. He would also often repeat that the city could not be abandoned and that something had to be done to help it - something that Pino is still doing through this charity auction initiative.

Pino’s Guitar on Auction
The Paradis Blù will be up for auction. The precious 6-string instrument, signed on the body by Pino, was the companion of the songwriter for some very memorable concerts. Fans may remember seeing Pino performing the opening of his 1995 album ‘Non Calpestare i Fiori nel Deserto’ or recall him playing at Sanremo and Festivalbar. During all of these show stopping occasions, Pino played on his Paradis Blù guitar.
Supporting Charity
From the beginning of November, the guitar was in the central hall of departures at the Naples International Airport in Italy. The guitar will remain there until 4th January 2018, the date that commemorates the 3 year anniversary of Pino’s passing. This is also the date that the Catawiki auction will end, an auction which will support the Neapolitan Santobono paediatric hospital. In particular, the initiative will finance the ‘Sogni D'Oro’ project, which will furnish the children’s room of the hospital. So not only is this an opportunity to own the guitar of a beloved Italian performer, but it’s a fantastic way to remember Pino Daniele whilst supporting a worthwhile cause.
