Have you heard about The Affordable Art Fair yet? It’s the most popular contemporary art fair in the world, and their mission is simple: to make art accessible to everyone. Their next exciting event takes place in Milan from 26th - 28th January and we’re extremely proud to be the fair’s sponsor. Not only that but we’ll be hosting an exclusive Affordable Art Fair auction in partnership with the fair, with works of the galleries that will take part at the event in Milan being sold on Catawiki for the first time. Intrigued? You should be! Keep reading to find out exactly why the affordable art fair is so popular.
Making Art Accessible
What’s so fantastic about the Affordable Art Fair is that all artworks offered for sale must have a low price, between €100 and €6,000. The idea behind this? Similar to our own weekly Art auctions, the fair seeks to make the collecting world more informal and inclusive, and to make it easier for all kinds of visitors and art lovers to do one simple thing: enjoy incredible art. The first Affordable Art Fair was launched in London 17 years ago, when 10,000 art lovers gathered together to browse and buy 1000s of original contemporary paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints in a relaxed and friendly environment. Since then, over 1.9 million people have crossed the threshold of the Affordable Art Fairs and about 412,000 works of art have found a new home. This year is set to be another fantastic show.

Affordable Art at Auction
On the first day of the Affordable Art Fair, we will host a sensational Affordable Art Fair auction here on Catawiki dedicated to the event, which will run from 26th January until 4th February. There will be almost 100 truly exceptional pieces of art presented across a variety of different styles, from the abstract to the figurative. Some of our favourites include ‘Chiavi in Mano, Terzo Paradiso’, by Michelangelo Pistoletto, an Italian artist, painter and sculptor. We also love the work composed of sand, oxides and marble dust entitled ‘Grovigli’, by Franco Saladino Galleri. All the curated artworks will be on display at the fair as well as available to bid on online.

Combining Forces
‘This is a very important contemporary art event which, edition by edition, has contributed to the creation of a new generation of collectors’ explains Federico Puccioni, our Country Manager for Italy. ‘It’s for this reason that we’re so excited to collaborate this year and to join forces with the Affordable Art Fair to achieve our common goal - making art accessible to everyone.’ So look out for us if you’re attending the Affordable Art Fair and come and say hello to our team; we’re always excited to meet art lovers and share our passion with fellow fans of this medium.
