Top 5 Most Expensive Jurassic Park Memorabilia Ever Sold

Written by Irene | 29th of May 2018

While sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to be released, let us shock you with the prices paid for Jurassic Park memorabilia. In 1993 Steven Spielberg captivated the world with a science-fiction adventure movie that was nothing like anyone had ever seen before. Now, 25 years and 3 sequels later, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. To get you in the mood here are the 5 most expensive Jurassic Park Memorabilia ever sold!

5. Personal script “John Hammond” (Jurassic Park Ι)  - € 10,328

Since the rest of the list is filled with actual props from the Jurassic Park movies, we decided to give you a more diverse number 5: Richard Attenborough’s personal annotated script from the 1993 movie. As you probably know, Attenborough played the role of industrialist John Hammond – the creator of the Jurassic Park Theme Park, taking his grandchildren to the park for a (very frightening) tour. The scripts not only features personal notes and amendments, but also autographs dated 1992.

4.  Velociraptor Maquette  (Jurassic Park Ι) - € 51,525

This full-scale maquette was built to serve as a paint study for the Velociraptor dinosaurs in Jurassic Park (1993). It sold for € 51,525 in 2009. Although not half the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, the pack-hunting Velociraptors in the movie were just as memorable and scary, maybe even more so.

3. T-rex Head (Jurassic Park Ι) - € 77,325

Controlling a 18 feet tall and 36 feet long mechanical dinosaur on set is not that easy, the crew realized when shooting Jurassic Park. This is why later they constructed a head-only model to be used in more intimate shots. In order to be more accurate, and in order to work more safely. However, the story goes the T-Rex head once created a very unsafe situation that would turn out to be a great movie- shot! In this scene Lexi and Tim are trapped under the glass of the sunroof which, apparently, was not strong enough to hold the T-Rex head. So the glass shattered, the kids screamed, and the scene came out even better than expected! Luckily no one was injured. The 1:1 scaled T-Rex head sold for € 77,325 at Profiles in History in 2007.

2. Animatronic Velociraptor (Jurassic Park ΙΙ) – € 77,810

A life-size, moving dinosaur actually used for the making of The lost world: Jurassic Park ΙΙ. Would you consider it a dream coming true, or rather a nightmare? Either way, the anonymous buyer paying € 77,810 in 2009 for this beauty is now the proud owner of a unique piece of movie- memorabilia!

1. Velociraptor Cage (Jurassic Park Ι)  - € 78,143

Perhaps the most recognizable prop from the 1993 Jurassic Park movie: the cage used to transport Velociraptors in the opening scene. Yes, the one that housed the dinosaur killing the gate keeper while the others tried to move the Raptor into its permanent pen. The cage was sold by Theme Park Connection in 2014 and made € 78,143.
