This week we have an exclusive selection of photographs in our Graduation Fundraising auction (18th - 28th January) by ’Push It To The Limit’, an international art collective of photography students from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). The auction is co-curated by Saskia Asser, curator at Huis Marseille, and Daniel Heikens, Catawiki’s photography expert.
About Saskia Asser
Saskia Asser has been a curator at Huis Marseille, Museum for Photography in Amsterdam since 1999 - apart from a three-year stint at World Press Photo in 2012-2015. She creates exhibitions and publications about historical and contemporary photography. The past few years, she also was the editor of the publication series Rijksmuseum Studies in Photography. In April 2019, she will start a new research project at the Rijksmuseum about the history of photojournalism in the Netherlands.

Following the dream
One of the students, Alex Avgud, tells us a little bit more about the selection: “Each with a distinctive own voice, what we have in common is pushing the photographic medium to its limits, questioning important issues and seeking out new ways of image making and storytelling. Coming summer we will graduate from KABK with an exhibition show. We want the result to meet our dreams and expectations, that’s why all the money collected as a result of this auction will be used for building up our best presentations possible.”
Visit the students in July to see how they’ve invested the raised funds, and follow the progress of their new work here.
