If you look for LEGO's most expensive models, you won’t be able to find them on the shelves even in the finest toy stores. The highest-valued LEGO sets are collector’s items, usually retired and thus very scarce. Collectors and LEGO enthusiasts around the world are willing to pay good money for them. Take a look.
9. 10129 Rebel Snowspeeder
The Rebel Snowspeeder is a set from 2003. The retail price was €110,-. The set contains 1,457 pieces and is currently estimated at €1,361.
8. 10143 Death Star II
This set is currently valued at €1,460,-, but was originally sold for only €260,-. The model includes a laser and is built to scale with the original Death Star II from Star Wars. It has 3,447 pieces.
7. 10181 Eiffel Tower
This LEGO set is the tallest one to this day – at an amazing 1,06 meters. The French flag on top of it is also made of Lego bricks. With 3,428 pieces, the Eiffel Tower was originally sold for €170,-. Now it's valued at around €1,475.
6. 1952 Milk Truck
Probably the oldest set from this list, and perhaps most unexpected. This Milk Truck from 1989 was released in Denmark to promote the Danish dairy company MD Foods (now Arla Foods). The Milk truck contains 133 pieces and quite hard to find, which brings the estimated value to +/- €1,750.
5. 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer
When you got this set in 2002, it would only cost you around €250,-, but these days it can sell for €1,800,-! This set is a model of the Imperial Star Destroyer ship from Star Wars and includes a LEGO minifigure of Darth Vader, a hologram of Emperor Palpatine and eight synchronised cannons.
4. 3450 Statue of Liberty
This LEGO set contains 2,882 parts and all of them are sand-green bricks. The price for this set was €170,- in 2000, but can go up to €1,900,- these days.
3. 10179 Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon
Perhaps every LEGO collector’s dream, this model is the largest Star Wars set ever made and the second largest set after the “Taj Mahal”. It was released in 2007 when you could buy it for €450,-. In the box, you will also find Lego minifigures of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The number of pieces is 5,174 and the price is currently valued at +/- €2,200. Better start saving up!
2. 10196 Grand Carousel
This LEGO set is electricity-powered and has 3,263 pieces! When assembled and powered up, the Grand Carousel spins and plays melodies. It could be yours in 2009 for €215,-. Now you would need about €2,300 to get your hands on one of these.
1. 10189 Taj Mahal
The “Taj Mahal” LEGO set is the largest LEGO set ever made. It was produced in 2008 and contains the incredible amount of 5,922 bricks, with a retail price of just above €250,-. Better save some money and patience for this one, as these sets are currently valued at around €2,500.
