This beautiful model is of a distinct Dutch barge De Zeeschouw.
This ship was designed in the 19th century for the simple fisherman. It was not too expensive, easy to sail, resistant to bad weather
and allowed to make a living for the IJsselmeer fisherman. A straight front and bow and stern, and ascending bottom front and back.
Narrow long swords for stability on the sometimes wild IJsselmeer water.
The single, high mast with straight fork, two front sails (fisherman’s foresail and jib on loose spar)
These ships were built in Lemmer at B.v. Wierda but also in Monninckendam. Later these fishing ships were transformed to luxury yachts like this model with decorations and embellishments.
It is a pleasant hunt that is easy to sail and by its broad shape is also suitable for lesser weather conditions.
This is a beautiful model with beautiful lines and rigging is built with keel and frames, like on the construction drawings. The picture shows it in its element
