Mixed technique painting on canvas with coeval frame, depicting: Horses. Signed at the bottom right: Roberto Merelli was a world famous painter, born in Venice in 1936 and died in Venice on 30/10/2009 at the age of 73. "Neo-figurative", he painted typical Venetian views up to the notion of movement with his famous Horses: here too there is motion, always motion. The artist captures his horses in the vigour of their gallop, following rhythmic cadences that are inherent in the very essence of the animal. Flaring nostrils; the mane is swaying from the wind; their legs soaring high from the gallop. For him the city was made of light - Colour: the marks that he drew were the carriers of this duo. A sense of environment remains, which is all about mobility, all space, all reflections ... ". The hand drew quickly and the brush softly followed. Out came a painting - drawing that was a succession of quick jerks, flashes, unrestraint... The documentation relating to the artistic activity of Roberto Merelli is kept in the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts of the of the Biennial of Venice. The piece is in excellent condition. Comes with a certificate of authenticity from the seller of the painting. Measurements: 64 x 54.5 cm with frame, 40 x 50 cm without frame.
