Alfons Karpiński studied at the Cracow School of Fine Arts under the tutors Florian Cynk, Izydor Jabłoński, Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Leon Wyczółkowski, and subsequently awarded Anton Ažbé in Munich (1903), Kazimierz Pochwalski's Vienna in 1907. Paris. He traveled to Italy and London. He was constantly living in Cracow; Associated with the environment around the "Green Balloon", he designed the scenery to show the cabaret. He belonged to Tow. Polish artists "Sztuka", "Zero" group, I was a Viennese association "Secesja" and Cracow TPSP. He participated in many exhibitions in Poland and abroad. During World War I served in the Austrian army. The rich artistic work consists of early genre scenes with the village of Cracow, landscapes and portraits, among them very often portraits of women, which brought him extraordinary popularity. Over time, beside the portrait, the theme of his paintings has become the still nature with flowers, decorative compositions with a subdued color spectrum. The artist also dealt with graphics and illustrations.
