A large still life of Klaas Koster, Dutch painter born in 1885 and died in Hilversum in 1969. Signed bottom right K. Koster and on the back on the stretcher also "Bussum". Training in Amsterdam at the Rijksnormaalschool for drawing teachers from 1904 to 1906 (taught by Jan Visser and Willem Molkenboer), at the Academy in Amsterdam from 1906 to 1910 (Pieter Dupont as a teacher), and Munich to the Königliche Akademie (as teachers Feuerstein and von Marr). Painter of portraits, cityscapes, coast views, still lifes and landscapes. He also designed his own house in Hilversum around 1920. Member of several artists associations: Arti et Amicitiae, Sint Lucas, Kunstenaarsvereniging Laren-Blaricum and of the society of visual artists (Hilversum). Large dimensions: 62x90cm on the original canvas, never redone. To its former condition with craquelures which can do with a cleaning and some varnish.
