Franklin Mint - The King Tutankhamun Egyptian Chess Set - Heavy 24 carat gold-plated
Franklin Mint.
The King Tutankhamun Egyptian Chess set.
Heavy 24 carat gold-plated.
Truly in pristine condition, apart from the fact that one of the four sides is missing a piece (see photo 27).
The 32 chess pieces are inspired by the images from the Tutankhamun era.
The metal chess pieces are beautifully detailed and heavy gold-plated with 24 carat gold.
The pedestals are hand-painted enamel in the colours black and ivory.
The chess pieces contain a protective top layer which ensures that no tarnish and/or discoloration can ever occur.
The frame of the chessboard is made of hardwood, finished with black ebony accents, and held up by four holy guards of the tomb. These, too, are very detailed and gold-plated with 24 carat gold.
On all sides, original Egyptian hieroglyphs are written which translate to 'Tutankhamun's chess set'.
The playing field is made of ebony and rosewood.
The chessboard measures 41 x 41 cm.
Total height is 35 cm.
The chess set is covered by a beautiful glass pyramid-shaped protective cover.
The entire chess set is truly in new condition apart from the minor damage of the missing figure on one of the four sides.
