German M1916 Gas mask

German M1916 gas mask or "Lederschutzmaske 16". The improved model from 1916 is made from leather. The leather is in a very good and smooth condition. Stamped on the inside with size “3”. Complete with all straps for the head and around the neck. Also with the original paper string from the chin to the head, to keep the filter in position. This one often disappeared by "the ravages of time"! So-called "Spider-Windows" to prevent the glasses from breaking. Also makes sure that no pieces get into the eyes. The filter is beautifully dated 1918, see picture with red edge. Has some rust and a hole on one side (see photo). I put a sticker on it to prevent the filling from falling out. The canister is in good condition and has a set of spare glasses in their original packaging. This one is marked and dated "Agfa 8519, 19-9-17" (= 19 September 1917). Rare item from WW1.
