Origin: This MOSSI or neighboring peoples (Gurunsi, Bwa / Nuna) Anthropomorphic flute comes from Burkina Faso. The Mossi are sedentary farmers
The Mossi venerate their ancestors, whose spiritual presence both validates their claims to their land and provides a major mechanism of social control. They also pray to nature deities with those large flutes and propitiate them.
I have seen recently a slightly smaller one from the same quality during an exhibitin on the Sablon in Brussels.
