Aluminium masks of the Senufo are rare since the material has been seldom for a very long time and is difficult to forge.
This type of Kpelie-masks were worn by the blacksmith to show it's skills. This type of mask is symbolizing an ideal woman. The elongated flanges radiating from the bottom part of the mask, refer to the hornbill bird. The horns above to the sacrificial ram. The scarification around the nose symbolize the primordial twins.
