Brown Oozing Patina, the above surface is slightly inclined .
Provenance: I exchanged it with Carlo Bold a well known Belgian collector, he collected the last 30 years, and comes regularly here in Antwerp to see my new findings.
Size: H=17.5 cm ( 20 cm with the custom made wood stand) Large= 15 cm

Used by the Luba elite, this diminutive sculpture elevated the head of its resting owner. Its function is protecting the sleeper's elaborate coiffure, itself a work of art requiring some fifty hours to create. Here, the artist has composed a playful visual pun by emphasizing the raised arms that hold the coiffure.
Since the seventeenth century, the Luba centrally organized state on the principles of divine kingship and rule by council.
