These bowls were used to measure rice in the Odisha region in East-India. They were forbidden during the colonial era and thus became a symbol of the desire for independence.
Smoothed through intensive use, with handsome patina.
Dhokra is a tribal craft from the Odisha region, using the oldest form of metal casting, the lost wax technique. Dhokra items are made of brass, and as the mould is lost during casting, is each item unique!
