Gerard Majella was born (son of a tailor) in Muro Lucano, near Naples, on 23 April 1726.
Gerard was a great worshipper of the divine child, the crucified Christ and the Blessed Sacrament, and he possessed the gift of clairvoyance.
He joined the order of the Redemptorists, as the porter of the monastery he gave bread to the poor who begged continuously at the monastery.
That is why he is the patron saints of the porters, tailors and pregnant women.
Due to his weak health he died at the age of 29.
In 1904 Gerardus was canonised.
The statue is 42 cm tall, foot width 22 cm, weight 1.721 kg.
