M.C. Escher - Regelmatige Vlakverdeling - 1958

In addition to the highly sought-after prints, this is an almost poignant document on an artistic pioneer. “Zoals ik in het begin van dit opstel al schreef: ik loop moederziel alleen rond in de tuin der regelmatige vlakverdeling”. [As I already stated in the beginning of this essay: I am alone, wandering around in the garden of tessellation”.] Personal effusions of Escher about his ‘addiction’ to tessellation and notes on the featured woodcuts. 45 pages. The black-and-white illustrations are printed from the blocks, the series of six included prints (33 × 24 cm) with clichés made thereof. Aldert Witte designed the typography and the binding. Bound, sewn in visible quires, set in Monotype Scotch Roman and Modern Extended. Small scuffs to bottom front and back cover. At the top of the joint an age-worn piece of approx. 1.5 cm. Interior good to very good, the loose prints immaculate. Limited edition of 175 copies, this is no. 81. (Please note: This book will be sent registered and insured. Shipping costs are for seller. Can also be collected in Zoelen, the Netherlands.)
