Good condition, extremely rare
|Qualification:||One of a kind (unique item, artwork or custom made)|
|Condition:||Overall in good condition|
An extremely rare chronograph made for the Ferrari team of the Mille Miglia of 1955. This type of watch was used to measure lap times for drivers and was issued in very limited quantities. This is a unique watch that is in relatively good condition. The movement functions very well and all functions work as is to be expected. Doublé gold case, on a leather strap that is adjustable up to 20 cm. The face is marked with the Ferrari logo and brand Doyle (Swiss). The rear cover is engraved and contains the year 1955.
In the race around Brescia and Rome in 1955 the Ferrari was driven by Eugenio Castellotti. He was the top favourite for the first place, and he occupied the lead for a long while, but with his aggressive driving style he drove his Ferrari to an early total loss. The winner of this year’s race was Stirling Moss in his Mercedes. A year later Castellotti returned the favour and re-captured the title. In 1957 Castellotti killed himself during a test drive on the Modena Autodrome. The race is a concept for all car enthusiasts.
The watch will be shipped registered mail.
