Nero Claudius Drusus never saw a coin with his name and portrait. In fact, it took half a century after his death before this honour was conferred by his son when he became emperor.

During Roman times the striking of coins honouring dead rulers was a relatively short affair. After all, each coin that did so was one that was not honouring the present ruler. Thanks to this, coins for this long dead general are few and far between. The most common among these are Sestertii that tend to come to market in marginal condition. Even so they tend to command stiff prices.

Next up, insofar as usual looks are concerned at least, are his scarce Denarii a sample of which can sometimes be found for 500,- 25000,- depending on quality. Regardless of your budget, don’t hold your breath waiting on a mint state specimen.

  • This denarius is a FORGERY. Mea culpa because I suspected that when I saw the photos, but the low price invited me to take the risk.
I give you the benefit of the doubt, probably you did not know.

it is certainly not a counterfeit. I found these coins myself with a metal detector.

but if you want, you can send them back and get your money back
    gr Eric.

het is zeker geen namaak. ik heb deze munten zelf gevonden met een metaaldetector.

maar als je wil kun je ze terug sturen en krijg je je geld terug.
