Velona automatic men's watch, late 1960s
This Swiss gold plated Velona watch dates from the late 1960s, and is a perfect example of the typical style of that period. The watch is entirely original and looks fine, despite having quite a bit of patina.
The movement is the very sound Ebauche calibre Kasper 1451, which has a date complication, with the date aperture at the 3 o'clock position. The movement has many jewels in the bearings (rubies) which prevent friction and wear very well. Which means the movement runs well.
The watch has a champagne-coloured dial, with a radial brushed finish (sunburst), which gives it a beautiful depth effect. The large, applied stylistic gold markers are facet cut, and in combination with the black stripes, they give the watch a striking appearance. The baton-shaped hands are very slim, and feature a black line as well.
