Early 20th century - Reasonable condition, one foot missing
A fine Hemba Kusu male figure from Congo, with a cavity at the top.
Unusually charismatic expression and finely carved beard, with a cavity on the front of the head. Square-shouldered body, with the hands resting on the stomach. One foot has been eaten by termites.
Fine, glossy patina.
Provenance: From the Belgian Congregation of the sisters of O.L.V.-ten-Bunderen (The picture is from 1928), who were active in the Kasai region from 1923 to 1996.
