Alain was born and raised in Paris. At the age of 12, he follows courses in the Louvre and this experience determines his artistic direction. At the age of 16, he enters the Collège d’Enseignement d’Art Graphique de Corvisart. At the end of his studies, he starts painting while living from small food related jobs.
He exhibits at the Salon d’Automne du Grand Palais. It took him a few years to realise the importance of painting in his life, and decide to make a living out of it. Around the age of 40, he leaves Paris and settles in Bretagne to devote himself to his passion.
Alain spreads paint with a knife on canvas, paper or wood. To create his landscapes, he uses construction spatulas, that are wider and stiffer than traditional painting knives.
He draws his inspiration from his travels (Italy, Greece, Algeria, Tunisia) and from the places where he lived (Paris, Brittany). He transforms his memories into inhabited theatrical settings. His works can be contemplated as if they were travel journals. With his mind full of images, it's in his studio that he creates lights, moods and atmospheres.
