Colour lithograph - one plate from: Vladimir Lebedev, Russian Placards - 1923
|Title of artwork:||Russian avant-garde|
Dimensions 21,4 x 19 cm, numbered III. The other presented pictures of the book have been joined as reference and prove it is indeed an Original Vladimir Lebedev lithograph.
This lithograph is numbered III of the famous collection of reproductions of Lebedev's agit-prop posters for the Petersburg Office of the Russian Telegraph Agency (ROSTA). This publication is one of Lebedev's finest examples of Russian futurist bookmaking, featuring futurist posters originally made for the show-windows of the Russian Telgraph Agency. The rare book was originally published in an edition of 1700 copies with bilingual text to present the posters to the rest of the world.
Condition: The lithograph is slightly yellowed and has a few tiny creases in corners, but is in fine condition with bright colours. The flimsie with the title ("Baron Wrangel departing from Crimea; the red sword can be looked upon as a phantom pursuing him") of the lithograph is still present. It is slightly browned/foxed.
Pictures of the worn and incomplete book are presented but are not offered in this lot.
