Ingo Maurer (born 12 May, 1932, Iceland) is a German industrial designer, who is specialized in designing lamps and lighting installations. In 1963 he founded the "Design M" label, a company for the development and production of his own designs. Later, the name of the company changed into the current "Ingo Maurer GmbH". One of his first designs, "Bulb" (1966) was included virtually immediately in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. The designs of Maurer have also been exhibited in the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Villa Medici in Rome, the Institut Francais d'Architecture in Paris, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the National Design Museum in New York.
