Iran – Second half of the previous century – Condition: Mint condition – approx. 200,000 knots per m² – wool/cotton – hand-knotted
|Material:||Wool on cotton|
This is a hand-knotted Senneh carpet, made of durable, natural materials. The way it's knotted and the diversity in patterns make this carpet unique and emphasise the authentic and traditional character.
Senneh is located in western Iran and is the capital of the Kurdistan province. Senneh carpets come with a medallion in diamond shape, and without it it's called a Herati pattern. The Senneh carpet is made of high-quality wool on a cotton warp (bobbin thread). These are often thick and compact carpets, the pile pointing almost straight up. This is why the Senneh carpets are excellent for regular use, with an extremely high durability.
This is a used rug, it has become more beautiful and characteristic due to the natural ageing process.
