Very fine, old bracelet carved out of elephant ivory with an entirely smooth finish. The veins in the ivory are clearly visible and the bracelet has age-related craquelure and a beautiful, dark, smooth patina from wearing, because women coated themselves with clay to protect them from the sun. The bracelet is very solid. This heavy specimen comes from a wide piece of the tusk, which makes it very large. Used, tribal item from an old, Dutch, private collection.
