This is a hand-knotted Mir carpet, made of durable and natural materials.
Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this rug unique and emphasise its authentic and traditional character.
Mir rugs are knotted in the mountainous area in and around Arak, in western Iran.
Characteristic for a Mir is the contemporary design called Boteh or Paisley pattern; a droplet shape with the tips pointing in one direction.
A Mir often has a continuous pattern, but some have a medallion and corner patterns.
Mir rugs are durable carpets made of wool on a cotton warp (bobbin thread).They often are thick, full carpets with an exceptionally high durability.
This is a used carpet, these carpets often become more beautiful and richer in character due to the natural ageing process.
