Female Kifwebe's are much more seldom than the male ones with protruding nose. The female ones are more flat.

Very abstract figuration of the eyes. Double triangle mouth. Fine white Kaolin and black pigments dry patina. Medium hard wood.
The Word "Kifwebe" just means "mask" , , they where already early known, the first Kifwebe mask entered Belgium in 1885. According to Dunja Hersak, this mask was for healing and transformation, and was used during the meetings of the secret association of the Kifwebes ( see image ).
