Old weathered patina, and with remains of offerings, a nail inserted on top.
End XVIIIth-Early XIXth - Good condition.
PROVENANCE: Collection A. Plaisance, Brussels.. well known for good taste and knowledge and awareness of objects of great beauty and harmony.
The Dogon live on the cliffs of Bandiagara, which dominate the plains for over 150 miles. The objects founds inside the grottes are often hundred of years old, and perfectly conserved due to the dry climate. The great art was discovered in the early XXth, and studied by the french anthropologist Marcel Griauld.
