This spoon has a carved jade Finial and the Aztec calendar in a raised design on the bowl.
The top of this beautiful spoon has a (3 cm) jade Finial cut. When tracing the hilt you can read "Mexico" in block letters. The bowl the spoon is round and has a raised design with the Aztec calendar stone.
The spoon is marked "Mexico" and "925" on the rug of the hilt.
The Aztec calendar stone is also known as the Mexican sun stone and/or the stone of the sun. Centred in the stone is Tonatiuh, the Aztec sungod It is a large monumental sculpture which was uncovered in Zocalo in Mexico-City in December 1790
